The MDA-55 is a 3G/HD/SD SDI & ASI distribution amplifier that combines exceptional performance with both value and compact size. The input signal can be 143Mb/s, 177Mb/s, 270Mb/s, 360Mb/s, 540Mb/s, 1.485Gb/s or 2.97Gb/s standards. It restores the incoming signal to its proper amplitude. The signal is reshaped with automatic equalization and DC restoration. The signal output level is 800mV p-p, and re-clocked.
The MDA-55 includes an automatic input cable compensation circuit commonly referred to as an adaptive cable equalizer. Itís maximum equalized cable length; for SD up to 750 feet at 270Mb/s, for HD up to 250 feet at 1.485Gb/s, and for 3G up to 150 feet at 2.97Gb/s.
The MDA-55 includes a crystal referenced re-clocking circuit that senses three data rates: 270Mb/s, 1.484Gb/s, and 2.97Gb/s. If the data rate is one of these three rates, the re-clocker will automatically activate and reduce high frequency jitter. If the incoming data rate is not any of the above, then the MDA-55 re-clocker will go into the bypass mode. If the data rate is 143 Mb/s or 177 Mb/s, the MDA-55 output rise times are slowed down to comply with the SMPTE 259 specification. The default for the MDA-55 is the faster SMPTE 292 HD rise time.
The MDA-55 has four outputs are provided on the end panel, as well as, a detachable DC power cable. These are four outputs that follow whatever the input is. There are three LEDís, on the end opposite of the BNC connectors, indicating re-clocker locked (red-unlocked or green-locked), data rate (blue-3G, green-HD, or yellow-SD), and power on (green).
The MDA-55 can be used in places where space is a premium and at the same time get excellent performance with lower cost. It is designed for applications that require equalization, re-clocking and distribution for 3G/HD/SD SDI as per SMPTE 259 (SD), SMPTE 292 (HD), and SMPTE 424(3G). It carries the Linkís standard 10-year warranty including parts and labor.
